MS Swimming State Awards Banquet & Clinic

Saturday, September 25
was the MS Swimming State Awards Banquet
and swim clinic in Jackson. This year, Olympic gold
medalist, Ryan Lochte, held the clinic and was
also the keynote speaker at the banquet. Emily received
her award as a Top 5 state time holder for her age group
for the 2008-09 swim season. We had a great time and
Emily was very proud to represent her team.

Group getting instruction from Ryan, a very recent
Olympic and World Champion, what a thrill!

Em is in the yellow cap listening to backstroke
tips. Lochte won the gold in the 200m back last
year in Beijing, so I hope she listened well.

Well now I think she and Delora were
just goofing off.

Ok, so I may have a few shots of just Ryan,
but how often do get to be face to face with
someone who has accomplished Olympic gold, and
World records...and look so good doing it??

And I did actually take pictures of Emily too. She
just didn't stay as still all the time.

posing with Ryan and Rex Tulliur. Rex is Ryans
room mate at training and they were both
University of Florida swimmers. He was
there to help with the clinic.

Later that evening we attended the banquet
which was held at the Fairview Inn Bed & Breakfast.
It was very nice. A different look for both of them huh?

Tide Swimming

Tide swim meet, Thursday 9/17. Pics are of Lauryn getting ready for her leg of the relay. She also swam the 200 free and 100 fly. It was the first time she swam those events and turned in really good seed times. Emily also swam exhibition and had some great times, even though they didn't count. She thinks it's cool to swim with the high schoolers.

Piranhas Swim Banquet

The Piranhas had their end of the year banquet
Saturday night. It was very nice..great job Kim!
Both the girls received awards..Lauryn was awarded
"Most Improved Fly Stroke" and "Most Improved Freestyle".
She has worked really hard and it's paid off...she had
her first high school meet last week for the Tide and
did very well. There are no age brackets for high school
so she is swimming as a 7th grader against all of them.
Emily took the award for "High Point" for 8 & under girls
and was also the highest scoring swimmer for 08/09 season.
Way to go Peanut!
She was also the recipiant of one of the "Coach's Awards".
We are looking forward to another great season, #6 for Emily,
I hope she stays dedicated to the sport.

Fun in the Sun

Still more of Panama City. I had so many pics that
it was easier to put in multiple posts. The weather
was so nice, Keith and I set up on the beach and the
girls kinda did their own thing. Everything at the resort
is real close so they could go from the beach, pool and
aqualand and they were never far from us.
Lauryn and Emily took part in all the kids
activities they have at the resort, which keep
them entertained for a good while.

Emily just chillin

Notice how calm the water is. It was like that
for 2 days. Not good for boogie boards but real nice
for just floating and swimming.

Cooling off in Aqualand

Sack races on the beach..like thats not difficult
enough, try it in the sand.

yeah..Em didn't win that one
